Barking Heads Wet Tender Loving Care Dog Food Tins : Great quality, but

I am not a fan of many of the wet dog foods out there due to content and what they do to my newfies’ digestion. I was quite impressed with the ingredients list on this though, so gave it a try as it beats cooking up stuff myself to supplement their diet. Both dogs really loved this and i was glad i used a quality set of puzzle bowls and mixed it with dry food for them as they ate this as fast as they could, so fast in fact that i worried about bloat from it. After the first tin, i gave them only 1/4 of the tin with their dry and mixed it more thoroughly hoping it would slow them down. It did, somewhat, as they not only had to seek the coated bits of kibble out from the puzzle grooves but were keen to lick the flavour left behind. Neither dog suffered ay digestive issues and their poop remained firm and didn’t turn any weird colours, unlike some previous wet foods we’ve tried with them in the past. It’s admittedly not inexpensive, but given the quality of the ingredients, it’s very reasonably priced, especially if used as a supplemental treat food. It’s currently available via subscribe and save so there’s further possible savings there available, up to 15%, which makes the price point even more attractive.

Wife says she thought it was like pate for crackers. Both my spaniels wolfed this down although to be fair they will eat virtually anything. They do enjoy fish though and i think more and more owners are recognising that fish is something dogs like. The texture of it is not too firm (like lily’s) or too wet and gloopy (like pedigree chum. )it doesn’t seem to upset their stomachs either (always a good sign). Poops were a bit loose for 1 day but after that they were fine. All in all i need to see what the cost is but with it’s very high protein content it certainly is very encouraging. I’d probably be recommending this if you can get it for less than 225 a can.

Nice food, but it will not overcome an already sensitive digestive system. On opening these cans, you will be impressed by the quality of what is in the tin. The contents resembled a sort of corned beef effect, and looked decidedly meaty. I have to say that i tried it on my greyhound to top up his boring old kibble. However, disappointingly- and this is not the food- rex very quickly developed very loose stools. Rex is very sensitive to any change of food, so this can hardly be a criticism of what looks like very fine food. If your dog will woof up anything given, i think this would be great-if it has sensitive tummy, like my greyhound and a lot of others, be careful. I only gave him two table spoons to see how he would react, and it was not good. But i hasten to say again, that is just how our dog reacts to diet change. It has happened loads of times before. I suspect most others who try this will have no problem. But with all diet changes, tread carefully otherwise you really will be treading carefully. Clearing up the kitchen at 5 in the morning is best avoided. But again, i was impressed by the food, which looked and smelt good.

Better for my old dog’s digestion. It’s hard to tell whether my dog enjoyed this any more than her usual brand, as she eats everything so quickly regardless. With a six day free trial it’s difficult to make a comment about how this would improve my dog’s health in the long term. What i can say is that i’ve become used to canine nocturnal flatulence over the past few years and it’s just part of the norm now. I sit in bed reading my book, drinking my tea, and my dog basically gasses me for around an hour soon after she falls asleep. While she was eating this food, i enjoyed a few days of significantly less smelly output from my best friend. I’m assuming this is because it was easier for her to digest, which has to be better for her health. Sadly our free trial only lasts six days, so she’ll be back on the regular brand and i’ll be reading my book with my duvet pulled over my nose.

My dogs clearly enjoy the very fishy dog food. . Barking heads wet fish-n-delish dog food pack of 6 is a dog food both my dogs love and for that reason alone i am happy to recommend. I find the tin of food to be of meaty goodness compared to cheaper alternatives. It is a firm dog food and as i mix it with a dry kibble it did take quite a bit of breaking up and mixing to get it to the consistency my dogs both like. The fish smell is strong which makes the dogs come running before i call them for their meals, the fish smell is so strong i can almost taste it as it really hits my nose with strength. The manufacturer states it is 85% fish (herring, salmon, and tuna) i would compare it to the smell you would get when you open a tin of salmon. The ingredients are excellent for both dogs long coat and their general health plus for me, it is low in fat which is especially important for my dogs as both are spayed and they seem to put weight on a lot quicker and easier. This is a dog food which is aimed at not only taste wise a good purchase for dogs but also the fact the ingredients are excellent for keeping care of the animal’s health especially their digestive system. With the addition of prebiotics which is included in the chosen ingredients this dog food is perfect for those dogs who need care when digesting their food, this will also protect your dog’s digestive health. I must say my dogs have had no loose motions which make it easier for me to clean up after them.

My dog woofed these down happily. I’m reviewing barking heads wet bad hair day dog food tins, pack of 6. Here are my thoughts:^^ my dog absolutely loved these cans of dog food. Dare i say, cliché as it may be, she woofed it down?. ^^ now these are little more expensive than my normal dog food, which is a little on the annoying side, however, you do get what you pay for, and i felt that i had a better understanding of what exactly was in this. Not only that, but the ingredients are indeed much healthier for your dog. Especially if they have health issues and gluten allergies. But you might just want to buy these because of the natural ingredients. ^^ for example, each can is 85% lamb (includes 50% lamb and 25% lamb broth) with natural ingredients. ^^ it’s a gluten, grain free formula, which is naturally hypoallergenic^^ i love this make’s ‘wet bad hair day’ angle^^ recommended feeding guide: * size of dog – up to 5kg – up to 1 can on its own. As a topping: as desired up to 1/4 can * 10kg 1 – 1 1/2 cans on its own. As a topping: as desired up to 1/2 can * 20kg 2 -2 1/2 cans on its own. As a topping: as desired up to 3/4 can * 30kg+ 3 -3+ cans on its own. As a topping: as desired up to 1 canoverall: seriously, your dog ‘should’* love these.

Our canine tested very much enjoyed this. Reviewed with the assistance of patch the dog. Patch had no qualms about scoffing this food when presented with it. In fact she didn’t hesitate at all and the food didn’t seem to touch the sides on the way down. This could be seen as a ringing endorsement of the dog food but this must be tempered by the fact that patch has never, in the 13 years she has lived with us, refused a meal and she has eaten them all as though she has never been fed before. In truth, she is not the most discerning of hounds. I will say, however, that it appeared to have no ill effects at all. From a human point of view i am delighted to say that the food didn’t drip everywhere and the smell was perfectly acceptable which sadly isn’t the case with all dog foods.

The description says this is 85% meat and it looks that way when you open the tin. The meat isn’t fatty and there are visible vegetables in the meat too. The dog loved the taste of it and gobbled it down. He didn’t lose weight but we tended to feed him with half a can and some dry food and were not really intending on weight loss. Barking heads dog food is generally of great quality and this was no exception.

This is a brand i hadn’t seen before. It appears to be well made and thought out – being suitable for small dogs and is grain-free and hypoallergenic. Contains 85% lamb but also herbs and vegetables. Is well liked and gets a definite paws up in our house.

Bought it for my overweight bichon frise , he doesn’t like it. I have to put a bit of chicken in to get him to eat it. Quite pricey but i guess for a good dog food it’s what you pay. It smells lovely and has lots of good stuff in it but it’s not for my dog. **update** dog has changed his mind and decided he likes this food now (typical bichon) will be ordering again.

Great high quality dog food, full of omega 3 to make your dog bright eyed and bushy tailed. My lurcher is picky but very much enjoyed this. She has some kind of intolerance or allergy to gluten, so we give her grain free food, which (alongside steroid medication for general allergies) has greatly helped her itchy skin. A genuinely healthy nutritious choice for your pooch, especially if they have skin problems, due to the high oily fish content.

The great amazon vine testing beagle absolutely loves this. In my case this is because i can actually see all the chunks of vegetables which are contained inside it. It also seems to fill tgavtb up for a long time which is no bad thing.

Good quality, but expensive. This is a very high quality dog food, predominantly made of fish and fish broth. All of the other ingredients are proper, recognisable foods: vegetables, oil, herbs and spices. It’s this composition that both makes the food a better fit for a dog’s actual nutritional needs than traditional dog foods (which tend to be heavy on completely redundant carbohydrates) and makes it so expensive. The cans have ring pull seals that are slightly disconcerting, as the tops have some flex to them. But i’m assured by the company’s support team that this is not a problem. The contents are a potential fishy-smelling ‘loaf’. My mini dachshund has point blank refused to eat this (although she loves the tiny paws turkey delight food from the same brand) – which seems odd, as she loves fish – but my brother’s black lab/spaniel cross absolutely loves it. 4/5 stars, even though my little girl didn’t like this particular flavour. It’s good quality food, that compares favourably to other high end dog foods, but quite expensive compared to homemade.

High quality ingredients, but quite pricey. Toby the cocker spaniel is a big fan of these tins, but as a spaniel, he’s also very keen on pretty much anything edible, or technically inedible, like horse poo, so he doesn’t have the most discerning of palettes. The tins contain high quality ingredients, with a high percentage of fish in the recipe, much more than found in many other foods, but at over £2 per tin you are payng for that quality. The question you have to ask yourself is, “can i justify the additional cost for my dog?”. The only person who can answer that is you.

High quality food with good ingredients – not cheap though. This wet food is really nice quality and consistency with an excellent set of ingredients. The 85% chicken composition is very reassuring as i like to make sure she gets top quality food without too much (or any) lower-grade fillers. This ‘fat dog slim’ variety is high on lean meat content to reduce the fat element which could lead to a portly poodle, but a lot of the weight issues met by dogs are often down to the owner more than the dog, so with adequate exercise and controlled quantities of food your pet shouldn’t really get ‘overweight’ as such. I like this particular product not for its proposed weight-reducing angle, but more because it is just good quality and convenient. It comes packaged in simple ring-pull cans – just be sure not to leave the lid poking up as it could cause a hazard in your bin for unsuspecting bin-users. Price-wise it is quite expensive for tinned dog food, and of course there is the argument that you could always just buy chicken and cook it up yourself to feed your pet – potentially for less money – but then that requires more effort.

The only measure for dog food for me is whether our dog eats it all up and with this, he nailed the entire can in under 2 minutes. Therefore can give it nothing but a big thumbs up as he is usually very picky with wet food.

My 2 shih tzus have been brought up on dry food but occasionally we will mix wet food in to it. Most of the time, though, we find the cans too big or too full of fatty and unhealthy ingredients. This barking heads food contains a good 85% chicken with the rest of the ingredients being all natural and good (chick pea, peas, courgette, tomato, sunflower oil, kelp, lucerne, parsley, celery, chicory root, turmeric, nettle, aniseed. You can tell from the smell that this is a good quality dog food, much better than other makes. There are no artificial ingredients at all in the can. The consistency is like a smooth thick pate with some bits of vegetable in, perfect for digestion alongside a good quality kibble. My eldest dog is a fussy eater but has eaten every meal since we started using this, to the extent that we’re getting more now that we’re on the last tin. It lasts up to three days in the fridge, too, so is less expensive when fed with kibble, though we do find this bigger can would be too much for one dog, but great for 2 small 5kg dogs. We’d tend to go with the smaller size cans designed for toy dogs from barking heads for ours, but for anyone with bigger dogs this is great quality food which comes highly recommended.

Good for small dogs, expensive otherwise. Despite the happy cheerful design, this is actually a good quality tinned food for your adult pooch. I served this alongside my dogs normal food at a tin a day and she loved it and there were no adverse ‘reactions’, although it did make her breath smell and you could smell it around the house too (we recieved the lamb and it kinda smells like corned beef). I’m glad i found this brand as my dogs normal diet is a bit akward to get around and travel with, so this will substain her at odd times when we’re out and about. It’s far too expensive to feed her long term however as she would need 3 tins a day if fed on her own which is almost triple the cost of the raw food we currently buy. For those with smaller dogs however i’d say definitely consider this as an option.
