ESSENTIAL FOODS Essential Foods Dog Food Superior Living 12 : Impressive ingredients and an impressed Dog !

This dry food has proven to be a surprise hit with my two dogs (a cairn/jack russell cross and a large yorkie) who, generally speaking, turn up their nose at anything other than (quality) tinned dog food. The manufacturer has made no effort to make the food look appetising (to humans) but the dogs don’t care – i replaced their evening dry food meal with this and they took to it immediately. Although the pack suggests introducing this food gently, i went the whole hog and neither dog has had any adverse reaction. It’s too early to say whether the higher quality food is having an effect on their health but they’re certainly not complaining. The pack is expensive, but it will last for a long time. It would have been nice to have had some sort of resealable mechanism to keep it fresh (i’m using clothes pegs) but that’s a quibble. I’m feeding them a cup-full each per day (they have wet food in the morning) and i guess it’ll last two months at that rate. The jury’s out on whether i’ll buy a bag once it runs out – that depends on whether there’s any obvious long term benefit and whether it lasts long enough to be affordable.

Best dog food on the market by far. This is my 2nd purchase of this food. My husky is extremely fussy and i have probably been through every dry food there is on the market in the last 22 months and she will only eat bakers meaty meals which as you know is not healthy so i only feed them as treats, however i put a small handful of these in my hand and she loved them, i put another few in my hand and she took them as well. Thinking it was some kind of bluff, i left it a few days and put some in her bowl at dinner time with her wet food and she yomped them down. Hooray the ingredients are spectacular for dog dood, i dont think apart from orijen have i seen such top quality ingredients. What i really love about this however is that it is made and packed in britain, yay, i love supporting british companies. I am thoroughly impressed and will be buying yet another bag when this runs out. My husky at 23 months is only on 200g a day with 300g of wet food later on, so this bag will last her 2 months. You think wow thats expensive but it works out at just £1 a day to feed them such top of the range food.

My elderly dog is doing well on this food, no more upset stomachs, good coat and has built and maintained more muscle. I also give her you move joint supplement, i think it combines well with this food and she has less stiffness, moves more easily and is more playful. Here are the specifications for the ESSENTIAL FOODS Essential Foods Dog Food Superior Living 12:

  • A truely unique grain free adult food for all dog above 5kg
  • Extreme high content of FRESH prepared chicken, duck, trout, salmon & Eggs (+35%).
  • Made according to the BOF principle – ensuring stable blood sugar levels for your adult dog through out the day
  • SOLVES the problem for owners with finicky dogs
  • Attractively priced for a food of this kind of uncompromising “in all aspects” quality

Will be stucking with these essential dog foods. Excellent ingredients, have tried the small kibble nautical which my eight year old jack russel enjoyed. She is a rescue and was fed bakers all her life, plus really bad human food,(boiled sweets, cheese strings, chips) as soon as we got her we ve got her on decent food, initially try macadams but it was abit rich for her, this superior living had her interested from the first bowl. She now has a,shiny coat, proper formed stools, gone are the smelly gloopy ones, and no more ear infections and scabby skin sores. My other dog a collie, will pretty much each any thing,he was on canagen, but ive found this range to be just as good and cheaper, a lot of thought gone in to making of the product, and also like the fact they help out various dog charities by donating some of their foods. Ive also just ordered estate living which has gone down just as well.

Well the dog seems to think sobeing a fussy eater its always a touch and go moment whether megan ( the dog) will take to new food wehn its offered. She usally aproaches with caution, gives us a knowing look of ‘ you`ve changed my food’ and then she will decide whether she is going to eat it or not. Well with this stuff there seemed to be no problem, even ate it as treets before i gave it as her main meal which again is unusual for her. Looking at teh ingriedients list it would seem that this is very high quality feed and not the stuff supermarkets sell which is full of fat. Well as far as megan is concerned she likes it and i suppose thats all that matters. . I wont get it unless im in the doghouse.

This product has a very high meat content (compared to other brands i am familiar with, some of which have only 4% meat), which i think must be good for a dog. I think that justifies the relatively high cost – but others may not think it so critical for their dogs to have a high meat content in their food, so i guess it depends how important this is to you. It seems to be appealing to the canine palate, so if you have a fussy eater, this may be a good option. Low odour, appears to be nutritionally complete – so the only thing to fault is the cost, which isn’t really fair to fault given the high meat content and all the exotic ingredients (antioxidants, fruits, vegetables etc).

Top quality #1 ranked dog food. This is a top quality food, the best we have ever given to our two labradors. The ingredients are first class, they love it and it appears to love them. Already after just one week, there is a noticeable improvement to their coats, behavior and their waste. Yes it is expensive but do not be put off by the apparent high price, you feed less of this food than just about any other food on the market so overall it costs less per dog per day.

A dog will eat almost anything. But he really looks good on this. . The dog loves this and is thriving on it. Having now removed ‘oats’ it is completely grain free. Nice and consistent in quality and the size of each piece of kibble is too.

Our dogs bracken and oscar love their food. We haven’t really had any problems with them in the past trying new things although we do try to avoid swapping about what they eat, in case of upset stomachs. Whilst they seem to enjoy their normal food, never have they gone crazy about an amazon box being delivered beforefirst the food itself comes in some nice looking packing, once opened you will notice a big difference in the quality of the food. The texture for a start feels like it has a bit more too it than the usual crumbling stuff you get in cheaper bags. Also it doesn’t stink either, a lot of food can really hum but this is not bad at all. The food itself is packed with some fantastic ingredients which are designed to help your dogs coat and skin as well as their own specially design behavioural ingredients which i hadn’t heard of prior to this. It’s a food blend that is designed to balance your dogs natural sugar levels for example which then in turn balance your dogs behaviour, especially great for the hyper dogsas it’s still quite early days i can’t say for 100% how well this works but my dogs love this food more than any brand i have tried before.

I am very impressed with this product, which is manufactured by a company that i have hitherto not heard of. First of all, the packaging is low-key, discreet and attractive. It clearly isn’t geared to be grabbed off the shelf because of “clever” labelling by psychological marketing principles. It is not “in-your-face” and so is more appealing to me because of it. The product can speak for itself, and is designed for an intelligent and discerning customer. The science behind it is impressive. I haven’t heard of behavioural optimising foods (bof) before, but according to the website, it is the principle of developing food to match a dog’s natural diet, (maintaining stable sugar levels for instance). Glucosamine and chondroitin are included as additives, (something i already give to my 8 year old dog), which is proven to help alleviate joint stiffness. Along with fresh uk chicken and duck, the use of venison, trout, salmon and egg is unusual, let alone the vegetable, herb and mineral content, including alfalfa, acai berries, alfalfa, seaweed….

This is the second bag of dog food that we have tried from essential foods. We have also tried the “estate living” variety which is very similar to “superior living” but with different main ingredients. Just as when we got the previous bag, as soon as it was delivered the dog was sniffing the cardboard box it was packaged in and was very excited as i opened up the bag. Our dog can be a very fussy eater indeed, but she absolutely loves both varieties from essential foods which is really unusual for her. She’s normally a grazer and sometimes has to be tempted into eating her food with adding things in like tuna. No extra goodies are needed with this food. The composition of the food is excellent and it’s much better quality than the standard with a very long list of ingredients: acai berries, alfalfa, apples, blueberries, carrots, cauliflower, chicken, cranberries, eggs, ginger, ginseng, green tea, linseed, marigold, mulberries, oats, oranges, pears, peas, potatoes, probiotics, rosemary, salmon, seaweed, spinach, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, trout and vitamins/minerals. The crude protein content is high at 30% (compared to our current cheaper food which is about 18%). The “superior living” variety is essentially chicken, duck, salmon and trout while the “estate living” is chicken, duck, lamb and deer.

Impressive ingredients and an impressed dog . First and foremost, the dog absolutely loves this. So much so that we mixed half and half with his usual food in his bowl, and the varmint sorted it out and ate just the new stuff very impressive list of ingredients (over 35% fresh prepared chicken, duck, trout, salmon & eggs)i wouldn’t say it smells a lot, but it does smell more than his regular eukanuba. The problem then is that as the bag is not a resealable type, the room starts to smell of dog food. The morsels are larger than usual too – about the size of a large cadbury button. . No change in the dogs toilet habits and the remnants are still firm enough to pick up. Not cheap by any means, but pay less and the dog leaves it in the bowl so the price is to a degree justifiable.

Of a mainstream brand if dog food i would recommend trying a premium product even for a trial- i. If you are a regular purchaser of a mainstream brand if dog food i would recommend trying a premium product even for a trial- i have come to realise that whilst we are all sensibly restrained by budget it’s rather like feeding your child at a fast food chain and then giving them a home cooked meal. . The dog adores this food and i do too- no smells or odors or dirty dishes – excellent.

Both my dogs seem to love this food. Breakfast for them this morning was met with great excitement and trying to get the spaniels nose out of the bag was no easy task. So it is a paws up from the dogs. I like the fact that this dog food doesn’t seem to be as full of rubbish as other brands. It really does look rather gourmet from some of the ingredientswould recommend,.

Being using this since mid 2013 on our aussie (situated in denmark) with absolutely fantastic results, as we did have some issues with coat prior to going for essential foods. The brand & company is widely known in denmark, and our warmest recommendation is given to all amazon uk customers.
