ESSENTIAL FOODS Essential Foods Dog Food The Beginning Large Breed 12 : Essential for large breed puppies

Brilliant good quality affordable. Adelaide loves it, clean bowl.

I stumbled across this food while looking for a new food for our 10 month old newfie. He was previously on arden and grange but had since got bored and wasn’t really eating any more. I read up a lot about this company and from what i can see, it’s a uk alternative to orijen. I love their website and found it really professional and informative. The package arrived and it has great detail on the ingredients and their benefits and also a really detailed feeding guide. We did a water test with three different types of dog food. The arden grange, a purina beta and the essential food kibble. The water test is to see how much the food swells over a period of time. (1hr) food swelling bloats the dog and makes it fuller for longer possibly resulting in the dog not getting the right amount of nutrition.

Overall satisfied with this. . Very crunchy, doesn’t smell too bad. Husky eats it all, although not overly enthusiastically, and has suffered no serious ill effects. However he has a tendency to break wind quite often and his stools are very smelly and quite large so i will not be ordering again. This is after three weeks of use. I have recently looked at the risks versus benefits of dog food ingredients and am quite shocked at what is added to many. For example, enterococcus faecium in some dog food (not this one) is intended to help with dodgy tummies but a quick search online will soon show you that this is controversial and may even increase our dogs’ resistance to anti-biotics.

Very high quality, nutritious food for young large breed dogs. Well we are unashamedly in the high quality, top-end of the dry dog food market here but you certainly get an excellent food in the bargain. Grain-free, the range of ingredients makes up for a very nutritious meal for a young, large breed dog, made up of a good meat mix and numerous vegetables and herbs. It all comes in a sturdy plastic bag too. The acid test of course is do the dogs like it and, boy do they. As soon as the bag was opened there was serious interest and mixed with some canned wet food our young lab makes very short work of it. So a great success and although the price may at first seem steep, i’ve found over the years buying this high quality food in bulk makes it actually quite competitively priced, because you need to use less of it and it really is good for a dog’s overall health. So although this review is in response to a free trial, i’ll definitely be thinking about getting some more when this has all gone.

£1 a day for such quality ingredients is outstanding. . My husky is extremely fussy and i have probably been through every dry food there is on the market in the last 22 months and she will only eat bakers meaty meals which as you know is not healthy so i only feed them as treats, however i put a small handful of these in my hand and she loved them, i put another few in my hand and she took them as well. Thinking it was some kind of bluff, i left it a few days and put some in her bowl at dinner time with her wet food and she yomped them down. Hooray the ingredients are spectacular for dog dood, i dont think apart from orijen have i seen such top quality ingredients. What i really love about this however is that it is made and packed in britain, yay, i love supporting british companies. I am thoroughly impressed and will be buying another bag when this runs out. My husky at 22 months is only on 200g a day with lukullus wet food so this bag will last her 2 months. You think wow thats expensive but it works out at just £1 a day to feed them such top of the range food.

One of the best kibbles around. By nature, kibble is a compromise and only second to fresh food. But not many of us can cook fresh food all the time for their dog, so it’s important to find the best kibble, which has been my quest over the last few years. It is surprising how few companies stand out in what is basically a goldmine. And like a goldmine, it attracts a lot of dubious people. 99% of kibble brands available today at absolute rubbish. Only a handful of brands stand out. Orijen and a few of their competitors if you are a proponent of the high protein diet for dogs, which i’m not at all. If you want a reasonable protein content (less than 30%) and still want this level of quality, you’re left with essential foods, green pantry and lily’s kitchen in europe.

Best dog food tested so far. I have a one year old rottweiler puppy and getting her stools solid has been a mission. But this has been a dream, not only does she love it, but she is all back to normal and been on it a few months now, might start introducing her to the adult food in a few more months. Her coat is lovely and shiny.

Essential for large breed puppies. This is great food for a large puppy. My labrador had started with growing pains on his previous food and i was advised to switch to this high quality food especially formulated for the needs of fast growing large breed puppies. After a few weeks his growing pains subsided and he has the most incredible glossy coat. He loves every meal and is a much happier, carefree puppy now.

Ok, firstly it looked like this was not going to work. They just sniffed and looked elsewhere. We stuck with it though and after a week they can’t get enough of it.Good quality and worth that extra cost.

This dog food seems to be full of better things than most. Most importantly, the dogs think it is wonderful. What better recommendation can you give it?.It is more expensive than many, but at the same time it would appear to have higher quality ingredients.

Wonderful tasty quality dog food with the paw stamp of approval from a bull mastiff puppy. This is a premium dry dog food, especially developed for the larger breed. We tried this out on a ‘puppy’ that is one year old and will eventually be a bull mastiff. As she is a bull mastiff she is already the same size as a small pony. She could tell something good had arrived the moment it entered the house, the bag became an object of intense interestwhen fed the required sized meal (comprehensive details on the pack) she ate it so quickly she almost choked, she honestly couldnt get it in quickly enoughit has a comprehensive list of natural ingredients and sounds lovely, it certainly has a woof of approval from ruby.

This dog food is packaged in a sturdy waterproof sack with a nice ‘tree of life’ feature picture. On the side of the sack there is a chart which is a feeding guide which takes into account the weight of your pup/young dog. It goes up in monthly intervals from 2 months old up to 18 months of age and shows the daily serving in grammes. The daily ration does not have to be fed in 1 meal, it could be split as per your preference and/or your vet’s advice. Often it is better to feed the daily allowance in split between 2 or even 3 meals as it gives your dog something to look forward to and can be easier on the stomach so as not to overload in one session. Large breed dogs need extra care and nutrition to protect their sensitive growth rate, to prote4ct their bones and to ensure, as far as possible, that they grow up healthy, comfortable and with a strong skeleton and limbs. This is done with nutritious food and measured exercise, as advised by your vet. This food at £55 for 15 kilos is not cheap, but, you generally get what you pay for and the list of ingredients is more than impressive to provide superb nutrition for the steady growth and health of your dog. There is no grain and no rubbish in essential foods, the clue being in the title.

Mr picky lurcher, the adored doggy, has deigned to try this new food. I was very impressed with this kibble, it smells great and is not full of the nasties which the cheaper stuff can have in it. After all like a human baby a furbaby deserves the best start. The kibble has been formulated for the larger breed of dog, and the kibble is slightly larger in size than the standard puppy kibble. One thing to mention is that the bag is very heavy. I nearly did myself a mischief lugging the bag through to the utility room. Mr picky lurcher has given it his woof of approval and so have i.

This food arrived this morning so i decided to try it out on the 4 dogs here that cant have a grain based kibble. On opening the food that comes in a good thick plastic sack for protection and storage was the most lovely smelling kibble. I have to say all the dogs went crazy and all wanted to see what the new food was. The kibble is a very good size indeed for the bulldogs that are 10 months old and 16 kgs each. Not a kibble that will be chocked on unlike some that is small pieces. On the back of the sack it lists everything that is within the food. Plus a guide as to what i should feed each bulldog. I filled each dog bowl with the correct amount plus some raw chicken which they have every other day.
