Forthglade Cold Pressed Chicken Kibbles Dry Dog Food : Excellent natural dog food

This is a change from the usual kibble. Rather it is a pressed product. My dog is not sure of it as it is not crunchy. Although he does eat it along side his usual food. I tried serving this in a separate dish but he wasn’t that keen. He is getting used to it and definitely is getting a taste for it. I hope he does because this is a high grade food and can only do good.

Stinks but the dogs adore this. . My dogs fell on this food like they were starvingin all honesty i’ve never seen them eat so enthusiastically – by far the most popular food they’ve ever eaten. The only problem i have with the food is the putrid smell. I keep the bag inside two bin liners but it still stinks. Unfortunately i can’t use it for treats as carrying something that smells so bad in my pocket certainly unpleasant. On the other hand, the dogs love it and i’ll buy it again.

Comments from buyers

“A PROMISING LIST OF INGREDIENTSBUT THE DOGS WOULD NOT TOUCH IT., Great food but my dog wont touch it, My three dogs all loved it.”

Great price, my dog loves this food, nice firm stools.

The dog loves this and eats is happily, even when there’s no wet food left with. The dog loves this and eats is happily, even when there’s no wet food left with it. It seems to be b=very nutrionally good for him too, which is great.

A promising list of ingredientsbut the dogs would not touch it. . Forthglade cold pressed duck kibbles dry dog food, 6 kgthis is a new one and based on the impressive list of ingredients in the promotional literature, one i thought would be a real treat. This is a ‘cold pressed’ dry dog food. I was not sure of what this meant but reading forthglade booklet, it keeps all the nutrients and therefore offers an ideal mixture to look after your dogs. Certainly there is no rubbish here and importantly no maize ‘fillers’. On arrival we soon became aware of a very strong smell which increased dramatically when the bag was opened. It became overpowering when kept in the utility room and so got moved to the garage. The bag is not re-sealable and so once opened is difficult to contain the smell. Our dogs are used to trying new foods through promotional gifts and sponsors prizes at dog shows. Our normal (well tried) practice is to mix new foods with their existing food for a week before trying it on it’s own.

Dog loved it but a bit smelly. An impressive list of ingredients, plus it is cold pressed so allegedly nutrients are better preserved. Not sure as well if cold pressing it made it smellier, but this does smell more than other dog foods we have tried. The dog loved it, but he will (and does) eat anything.

Good but does have some rice in, so not sure makes it gluten free enough for allergic dogs.

Very hard for us humans to comment on the taste of this sort of product. Few of us would ever want to even try. It smells like dog food so would almost certainly taste accordingly. The main thing is that jj and morgan are it very eagerly. Price would be my main issue about this becoming a regular part of their diet.

Forthglade cold pressed duck kibbles dry dog food. The forthglade duck and brown rice dry dog food is made in the uk and is a complete, cold pressed natural diet which is hypoallergenic and has no artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives. Made with 30% meat content the dense, pellet shaped kibble has added essential vitamins, minerals and omega 3 and has a strong, yeasty (and, to me, not particularly pleasant) aroma which is noticeable even before the bag is opened. Talking of the bag, which is heavy duty paper, it is impossible to open and reseal in any effective manner so perspective purchasers should ensure you have a suitable container for keeping the food in once opened – perhaps the manufacturers would like to address this matter if they are reviewing their packaging in the future. My canine testers ate the food enthusiastically and there were no adverse effects on their digestion. Given that the kibble does not contain a lot of poor ingredients and fillers the daily portion size can be reduced according to the weight and age of the dog eating it so, in theory, the food should last longer than a similar sized cheaper food. Available in 6kg or 12kg bags according to your requirements the forthglade cold pressed duck kibble is a very good quality food but is not, as yet, competitively priced as similar, or better kibble on the market which is a factor for consideration whether you are feeding one dog or several/many. On that basis i feel that 4* is appropriate.

This was a really big hit with archie the staffie. :)he’s a fussy dog, who usually won’t take to any other than his usual dog food, unless it’s fresh meat, but no worries here. He couldn’t get enough of it. The food looks like compressed pellets (a bit like large rabbit pellets). They crumble easily in your fingers and are semi hard. They smell strongly meaty, even before you open the packaging. Poo was normal following this, and no problems here. This is a 30% meat content, a good percentage for a dog and there is a good mix of brown rice and vegetables and minerals. Important: one thing to note, is that this must be stored in a container that allows the food to breathe.

The natural ingredient list is impressive. Well our dog oscar does, anyway. Oscar has been eating this, in conjunction with his other foods, for a week or so now. He seems to quite enjoy it, which is what i would have hoped for. He has his odd moments of pickiness, but hasn’t with this. There is a noticeable (but not unpleasant) odour of the ingredients, which i believe really attracted him to the food. The natural ingredient list is impressive and while i think it is expensive for the amount that you get, i would treat oscar to this now and again. As another reviewer has said (and as i spotted immediately after i had initially posted my review), this could do with coming in a re-sealable bag.

My three dogs all loved it. . My wife made the mistake of opening the bag of forthglade dog food while our three german shepherd dogs were in the same room. Although there was only a slight discernible odour of duck when opening the bag as far as we could tell, all three of our dogs went mad for it, pushing each other aside in order to gain access to the bag. Order was soon restored and each was given a small handful to sample. Needless to say they all loved it. The food appears in a sort of “pellet” form and clearly didn’t need any other supplement to be added in order for our dogs to eat it. After a few days trying the food our three german shepherds appeared to thrive on it. Their coats, already shiny and in good health, remained in peak condition. Their stools were normal and no adverse affects could be seen in any way at all. We always ensure that there is a ready and ample supply of fresh water whenever our dogs eat dry food and it was noticeable that all three drank a lot after each meal.

Great food but my dog wont touch it. The quality of this food is top notch, i cannot fault forthglade on the ingredienst list at all, the kibble is a pellet shape which i think its really cool as it stands out differently to all other foods, and the pellets themselves are only semi hard, i can easily snap one in half for example and it will easily crumble in my hand when i press hard enough. My problem is that my dog will just not touch it, not sure why, she sniffs it and walks away. I tried tricking her ( yes i know) by putting some in her busy buddy, but she would just sniff them and leave them all over the floor. I left them there once and she left them for 4 days so she definitely is never going to eat it. I normally would award 2 stars in this instance but i was impressed by the natural ingredients so ive awarded 4 as its not the manufacturers fault that my dog is a fussy diva. To give you another example, i cooked 2 fresh lamb chops for her today, put them in her bowl and she turned her nose up at those too, yes i have one of those not interested in food dogs (nightmare). I do have one negative though and that is the packaging. Its a pain to get into, its a giant paper sack, i found it difficult to open the top without tearing the sack, and its not resealable so you will need to stick it inside a air tight dog food container or seal the bag up with washing pegs which is what i have done.

Excellent dry food, eaten with gusto and solid results. . My dog can be a fussy eater so the first issue with any new food is will she eat it. Well i am pleased to say that this passed with flying colours. She wolfed it down with gusto. The second test is what happens after digestion. And, not to put too fine a point on it, we are looking for a solid outcome. And that too has come to pass. Too early to judge any long term results but everything is looking good. At the time of this review this has a premium price tag, but that may change in due course.

Forthglade cold pressed duck kibbles is one dog food which i have to say i never seen food in my dog’s dish disappear so quick. I was worried when i saw the size of the actual kibble as it is twice the size of their normal kibble. I actually tested them and mixed this kibble in with their normal and both dogs devoured and searched out the forthglade. Then when they saw i was not going to give in, they decided to finish what was leftfirst of all the dogs do love it and i have to say it is a very clean food to give them with no strong smells, so far what they are passing naturally is healthy therefore no loose motions which are one of my major worries when it comes to giving them dog food. Forthglade is one excellent dog food which is made from everything natural therefore is very pleasing for me as a very fussy dog owner. This dog food has no wheat which suits both my dogs as they would have sensitive stomachs, everything about it is pure goodness with no cheap fillers. I would be happy to purchase this dog food even with the higher price as in my honest opinion it is well worth it as my dogs are worth nothing but the best. Happy to recommend forthglade cold pressed duck kibbles dry dog food as my dogs love it and that is fine by me.

Canine heaven and very nutritious. This is a fantastic product. I fed my neighbours dogs with it and they loved it. I also put it out every night for the 3 foxes who live in my garden and they loved it. They even seemed to put on a bit of weight. Its jam packed with nutrients which would explain the new lustre in their coats. It also is very strong smelling. I couldn’t store it indoors as it smelled too strong. I stored it in the garden shed instead. Having said that dogs and foxes etc love strong smelling food.

This is a good quality, nutritionally balanced dog food. ‘high in protein, hypoallergenic and nutritionally dense’ – while i’m not entirely sure what ‘nutritionally dense means, this is a good quality, nutritionally balanced dog food. A dry dog food, suitable from 2 months of age, the dogs i tested this on wolfed it down. I should probably counter that by saying that they will eat most things, but this did seem to go down with particular relish. Good firm nuggets of food seem to add some bite to the meal. This is meant to appeal to fussy dogs as well; i’m afraid i didn’t have one to test it on though so cannot comment on this aspect.
