Great food but my dog wont touch it. The quality of this food is top notch, i cannot fault forthglade on the ingredienst list at all, the kibble is a pellet shape which i think its really cool as it stands out differently to all other foods, and the pellets themselves are only semi hard, i can easily snap one in half for example and it will easily crumble in my hand when i press hard enough. My problem is that my dog will just not touch it, not sure why, she sniffs it and walks away. I tried tricking her ( yes i know) by putting some in her busy buddy, but she would just sniff them and leave them all over the floor. I left them there once and she left them for 4 days so she definitely is never going to eat it. I normally would award 2 stars in this instance but i was impressed by the natural ingredients so ive awarded 4 as its not the manufacturers fault that my dog is a fussy diva. To give you another example, i cooked 2 fresh lamb chops for her today, put them in her bowl and she turned her nose up at those too, yes i have one of those not interested in food dogs (nightmare). I do have one negative though and that is the packaging. Its a pain to get into, its a giant paper sack, i found it difficult to open the top without tearing the sack, and its not resealable so you will need to stick it inside a air tight dog food container or seal the bag up with washing pegs which is what i have done.
Forthglade cold pressed duck kibbles dry dog food. The forthglade duck and brown rice dry dog food is made in the uk and is a complete, cold pressed natural diet which is hypoallergenic and has no artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives. Made with 30% meat content the dense, pellet shaped kibble has added essential vitamins, minerals and omega 3 and has a strong, yeasty (and, to me, not particularly pleasant) aroma which is noticeable even before the bag is opened. Talking of the bag, which is heavy duty paper, it is impossible to open and reseal in any effective manner so perspective purchasers should ensure you have a suitable container for keeping the food in once opened – perhaps the manufacturers would like to address this matter if they are reviewing their packaging in the future. My canine testers ate the food enthusiastically and there were no adverse effects on their digestion. Given that the kibble does not contain a lot of poor ingredients and fillers the daily portion size can be reduced according to the weight and age of the dog eating it so, in theory, the food should last longer than a similar sized cheaper food. Available in 6kg or 12kg bags according to your requirements the forthglade cold pressed duck kibble is a very good quality food but is not, as yet, competitively priced as similar, or better kibble on the market which is a factor for consideration whether you are feeding one dog or several/many. On that basis i feel that 4* is appropriate.
We are really impressed with he forthglade range of food, which offers such quality ingredients at realistic prices. This cold pressed duck kibbles is no different. Wheat free, it contains a good mix of protein from duck and other ingredients. Our pooch is doing well on it, and shows no problem with accepting the new food mixed into his existing food. No digestive changes either, and he seems as happy and contented as ever. We’ve also tried the chicken variety food and are happy with both. As are the cats, who again delight in pinching the dogs biscuits whenever they saunter pasti’d not hesitate in recommending the forthglade range of dog food. It really rivals the priciest brands for quality, but at about half the price.
My dogue de bordeaux loves it. All natural quality ingredients, you don’t need to feed as much as other brands and no tummy problems.
My dog loves this and it seems to suit his digestive system, if it tastes as good as it smells all`s good. . My dog is really enjoying trying this dog food. As soon as it arrived he was sniffing around the bag, it has a yeasty sort of smell that you can smell through the bag before you open it. It is full of good things for dogs and no additives and natural ect, there is a full list of ingredients on the product page. But the main thing is does the dog enjoy it and he certainly does so on his behalf he really recommends this food 5*. He has been eating this for a few days now and has no upset tummy or runny poo so it really seems to suit him, the only downside i suppose is the price its a bit expensive.
Reviews from purchasers :
This dry dog food may look a bit pricey but it is different to others i’ve tried my dog with. This one isn’t full of cheap fillers but full of nutritious ingredients then cold pressed. So it’s more like wet dog food just in a very convenient form. You don’t need as much as other dried dog foods either donors actually great value.
Good but does have some rice in, so not sure makes it gluten free enough for allergic dogs.
