Review of UK dog Food brands, along with advice on health and nutrition
I would definitely recommend. Murphy (a cross between a dog and a haystack – well, irish wolfhound and a poodle) loves it, he can be quite a fussy eater and at times will ignore his food all day, i started to mix this in with his normal dry food and he is at his bowl waiting to eat. I would definitely recommend.
This product is a good choice among the many that are available. Every time i shop for dog food i am confronted with a multitude of choices regarding this genre of dog food. For the same quantity of product the costs vary from around £8 to £26. I am not altogether sure what the real differences are and of course i have no intention of trying them personally to see which i prefer. I have to rely on my dog’s ability to make a ‘choice’. Any dog food put in front of say a labrador would last a few seconds. My dog only eats when hungry, would much sooner eat what we eat and will hold out (mostly in vain) in the hope of getting what we have. So a bowl topped up in the morning may still be uneaten late at night.

Comments from buyers
“Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme – yes they are all in there! Yucca too., Good quality dog food., Good dog food packed full of extras!”
This food seems taylor made for my 13yr old springer. It has 30% chicken, white and brown rice, oats, flaxseed, fish oil, peppermint,to name just a few,it contains other vitamins, and natural ingredients. Flaxseed and fish oil are good for joints, the peppermint+ others for digestion, oats for cholesterol, white andbrown rice are gentle on the stomach. It is a small kibble so easy for the older dog to eat, seems to soften easily when in the mother. My dog has had a couple of extractions so sometimes struggles when eating but has no trouble with this. It is a competitive price so i am going to cancel his present food and get this on subscribe and save. I can honestly say this is the best dry food i have tried for my dog health and price wise.
Another good choice for kibble. When we first had our shih tzu we immediately looked at food and decided that we didn’t want to feed the basic supermarket type. However, choice was limited by cost so we stuck with royal canin, which has more natural ingredients and is designed for specific breeds. This precept plus, however, is in a class of its own and yet doesn’t cost the earth. The ingredients are both natural and a good mix of botanical elements, meat and vitamins, while excluding those, like corn, which can irritate some dogs. Best of all, my dog loves the flavour of this food and while she is picky about some foods, has managed to eat every bowlful of this. Based on how healthy she is looking and how much she likes the food, i can recommend precept plus wholeheartedly. The only thing we’ve noticed from this chicken flavoured one is that her poo smells a lot stronger after a few days of eating it.
Parsley sage rosemary and thyme – yes they are all in there. Precept dog food arrives in an attractive pouch decorated with pretty pansies and daffodils – confusingly it looks a bit like a small bag of compost. To use cut off the carrying handle, and pull open the sealing strip. The small brown button sized circular biscuits are rather like cheerios for dogs. As with polos, they all have a little hole in the middle. The ingredients are kind of exotic – cranberries, dandelions, rosemary and peppermint – as well as the more believable chicken fat, carrots, carbohydrates. Nature certainly would be surprised at the uses her bounty has been put to. Nevertheless my springers, who are now awfully keen on the postman, owing to recent vine offerings for ‘moderately active adult dogs’ such as this foundation formula, eagerly chomped it all down. As i write this they are worrying at the bag.
