Review of UK dog Food brands, along with advice on health and nutrition
Our jack russell is now 17, having been fed on age-related versions of this product since birth.
I will start by saying that our dog does seem to like and eat this – which is a good start. I am conerned that this product is marketed and sold as a premium product, but the ingredients do not match this claim. The ingredients seem to be more akin to the cheap brands. It’s a difficult one – the dog likes it but my expectations are higher than the reality of this food.
Easy to use, you just open the packet, no preparation or complicated serving instructions here. My previous food required such complex preparation i’m surprised they didn’t go next door to get fed. Our dogs were a bit sniffy at first, but when i added some steak and gravy, they wolfed it all down.So go one, don’t skimp on the doggies in your life, give them the best.
Key specs for Purina Pro Plan Small and Mini Adult 9+ with Optiage Dry Dog Food Rich in Chicken, 3 kg:
Comments from buyers
“Complete OPTI-nutrition dry pet food with OptiAge for older (9+ years) small & mini dogs (up to 10kg), Decent food for our ageing Jack Russell, A highly recommended dog food for your older dog.”
This has been thoroughly enjoyed by my pug. The kibble is a small size and a good texture for older dogs ( my boy has lost a few teeth). The food smells ok, for dog food, and seems to be appetising as my boy can’t wait to devour the contents of his bowl. The resulting matter ( which as i responsible dog owner i pick up so is important to know about) is easy to pick up and shows no problems with digestion.
With a reliable pet food product name like purina it is not surprising to find that this complete pet food is a highly nutritious product. It is not just great for small or mini puppies but can also be fed to gestating or lactating mothers to support their developing puppies natural defence system.
Great dog food from a trusted name. I’m a big fan of the purina range. Or should that be that my dogs are a big fan of it. You’re getting a trusted name and a feed that is full of all the right ingredients. This is targeted to the older dogs but i can’t see any reason why it couldn’t be used as feed for other dogs. The ingredients would suit all. Another winning product from purina.
