Skinners Field and Trial Duck and Rice Junior Dog Food : Worth the extra for the results

She seems to like it and is in good condition. I changed to this on the recommendation of my trainer when i was having difficulty with working springer not eating. She seems to like it and is in good condition now.

Our border collie pup loved this new dog food. Skinners is known for their quality dog food and this doesn’t disappoint. Good amount of meat and protein, no nasty artificial colourants or preservatives, and easy on the tum. A bit more pricey than some of the other brands out their but in my opinion worth it.

Skinners field and trial duck and rice junior dog food 15kg. The skinner’s field & trial duck and rice junior kibble is specifically formulated for young working dogs from 6 months up to 18 months old. With no artificial additives, flavourings or preservatives, this british made food is hyper allergenic and contains all the necessary ingredients to provide a balanced diet for young or small breed dogs. Researching dog foods and trying to make up your mind about which food is the best for your dog (and your wallet) can be very confusing. This skinner’s kibble contains quite a high proportion of rice, which is a filler, but overall gets the thumbs up from independent experts as a good mid-range dog food. The 15kg duck and rice kibble is supplied in a heavy duty re-sealable bag which keeps it fresh and safe from nosey canines who may be looking for some “extras”. It has been a big hit with our 9-month old lurcher who gobbles it up quickly, has no problems with her tummy and is both healthy and the correct weight for her size and age. The kibble is also just the right size to be used as a training treat so not only is it providing an eagerly received meal/treat for the dog but it is providing good value for money for us.

Key specs for Skinners Field and Trial Duck and Rice Junior Dog Food, 15 kg:

  • Formulated for working dogs up to 18 months of age
  • Contains marine algae to support a healthy brain, vision and nervous system
  • Maintains healthy teeth and bones
  • Builds strong muscles
  • Free from artificial additives, flavorings or preservatives

Comments from buyers

“A QUALITY DRIED DOG FOOD FOR YOUNG WORKING AND ACTIVE DOGS., What a shame as food looks quite nice for that price however after another bag we will , Our dog love this food so does her digestive system and so do we “

Quality kibble that our dog has enjoyed- ideal for his delicate digestion. . We got this for our young adult springer who has a delicate tummy. Many adult kibble mixes are too rich for him, but he tolerates those that are rice based very well. He has also tried the puppy kibble. Whilst he is field stock springer spaniel, this isn’t essentially an exclusively working dog formula. It’s 27% protein, which is higher than some pet formulations but not all. The skinners junior kibble pieces are small but not too small, about twice the size of puppy kibble. They are also suitable for small breeds such as jrts or dachshunds, and the ingredients of duck and rice shouldn’t cause any tummy upsets. This same formula is used for the puppy kibble. The key question is ‘does it get eaten and did the dog appear to enjoy it?’.

A good dog food for that puppy to adult bridge. This kibble style dog food is ideal for active adolescents. The formulation of proteins, vitamins, minerals and oils provides all that young dogs need following on from the puppy stage. In terms of meeting your dog’s nutritional needs it bridges the gap between puppy and adulthood perfectly. It is high in omega 3 too which is important for cardiac health, eyesight and brain development. We have encountered no problems in relation to bowel function or loose stools in the change over from previous foods. From the evidence provided by my daughter’s clumber spaniel it tastes good and i believe that there is a visible improvement in his coat.

Have to say they are responding well, and it doesn’t seem to aggravate their tummy as much as other foods can. A lot better and something i will get again.

We switched our collie onto this food when he was around 7-8 months as the food he’d been on since we brought him home (beta puppy) didn’t seem to agree with him (lots of stomach upsets etc). He’s now 13 months and we’re really happy with the skinners. He has tonnes of energy, a shiny coat and no digestive issues. It’s more expensive than budget/supermarket foods but far cheaper that some of the premium brands. We’re very pleased to have found a food that suits at a reasonable price.

British made and sourced food which loved my dog as much he loved it. Our 2-year-old newfoundland/golden retriever cross has mostly been fed beta dog food and it’s done well with him. He does get bored with his food sometimes though, so finding a good food to switch to that won’t cause upset can be a bit of a challenge. He really liked this one from the moment he was offered his first bowl. He cleaned his bowl and looked hopeful for more, his day long disappointment turning to glee once it was time for his second meal of the day. Downside is keeping the cats out of it- they really like the smell of this and will sit and eat the dog’s food if not shooed away, preferring this to whatever cat kibble i am trying to offer in its place to them. As for the dog, though, no negatives- he’s been just as happy to eat this come to the bottom of the bag as he was when we first started it. Hs coat has been glossy, eyes clear, no wind or other issues. The small pieces of kibble work well in his puzzle bowl so i haven’t had to worry about him simply gulping this down. The size also works well to stuff inside fillable dog toys such as his foobler and as well as his kong (though to keep it from spilling out, i mix with some peanut butter first).

Ideal food for energetic and active dogs. This is an affordable (in bulk more so) good food for energetic and active dogs whether working or working breeds or indeed a more active breed in general. My grey is a fussy boy and not only detests the food we have had the lab-muddle inhale but we’ve found him hungrier on certain mixes so we thought it worth trying him on a more calorific younger food and it’s made a difference in his satisfaction and food-bothering- if you have a grey you know how food orientated they are and despite being a typical runabout-sleepalot greyhound he has a very rapid metabolism still so he gets hungrier than the lab-muddle, but on this food not as much. Overall this is a good choice for those whose dog’s activity level means they are going to burn more calories by design or activity.

A quality dried dog food for young working and active dogs. . Skinner’s “field and trial” duck and rice junior dried dog food 15kilo bagskinner’s is a well known and established producer of good dog food products although i have not had the opportunity to try it before now. As the name suggests, this is targeted towards and for young working dogs and whilst the name “field and trial” implies gundogs i do not think this is meant to be exclusive. Most active dogs can be classified as working even if loosely including some of the smaller breeds. We have hounds and although they can be happy on the couch, when they are out there are not many that can match their activity. The point is i was and am happy to give this food to them even though some may not classify them as “working”. Although they don’t actually choose what they eat, they can make it quite clear and give strong indications of what they like based on the taste. We select what is on offer and with a little variety and careful selection of ingredients we get to strike a happy balance of what we know is good for them and what they like. I cannot see anything in the ingredients that would deter me from using this food – all good and no maize “fillers”. As usual there was a little reluctance to change (understandable and normal) so we mixed old and new together for a week gradually increasing the percentage of new and soon the hounds were happily feeding on this skinners duck and rice.

Our young aussie shepherd (20 months old) enjoys his twice daily bowl of skinners field and trial duck and rice. He’s a very active dog and the skinners seems to maintain his energy levels very well. I give him around 380 grams a day and he has maintained his ideal weight and has shown no signs of stomach upset. His stools are all fine too. What i like about this skinners duck and rice is the reasonable real meat content, not the highest, but fair at this price at around 26%, along with the low amount of bulking materials like maize and wheat. All in all a good quality kibble at a reasonable price. There are similar quality kibble on the market for over £40 for 15kg. So while yes there are better kibbles available at twice the price, this skinners is a great alternative to paying those excessive prices.

Give it a try you dog will thank you. A good dog food at a reasonable price which includes marine algea, as humans we take krill oil and i canttell you the benefits so to see a similar additive in the dog food can only add to its effectiveness for energetic young dogs. Ours cleared the bowl and seems to have no after effectsdigesively speaking.

One of the better quality kibbles. Skinners working dog kibble has a good reputation for being a reliable source of protien, enough to support a working dog to its optimal potential. Whilst we freely acknowledge that raw is the best option, it’s not possible for everyone and so being offered the chance to review this in the field and trial, duck and rice for junior dogs seemed like an ideal opportunity. Our malamute is approximately 20-24months and is working the majority of the working day. She’s active, intelligent and as she’s seemingly lost her appetite for barking heads kibble its a welcome relief to find she’s keen on this brand. Tried over the course of several days, she’s happily eaten this, although, in the intrests of total honesty, she isn’t exactly relishing it when it’s first presented to her. There’s been no real issue switching her over and she’s given it the clean bowl approval which is about as good as it gets for a kibble approval from here.

Our dog love this food so does her digestive system and so do we. We have a jrt who is extremely lively and a very fussy eater … we have always fed her on dried food as wet food seems to upset her stomach. She likes most dried dog food but for the last year we have been feeding her on ‘purina beta adult chicken’ … she wolfs this down without any hesitation. However she might like it but her digestive system doesn’t … she gets terrible wind … it’s so bad we have to leave the room. My husband and i couldn’t wait to try her on this skinners field & trial duck and rice dog food. This dry food is made with british duck and whole rice which is advertised as being very gentle on a dog’s digestion … we shall see. Although this food is primarily for working dogs, i am sure its fine for any active and energetic dog. The ingredients in this food are all good and include … • brown rice (26. 5%) • naked oats • peas • whole linseed • beet pulp • sunflower oil • yeast • marine algae • mos • vitamins a, d3, e, • minerals iron, iodine, copper, zinc, manganese and seleniumshaped in small brown kibble sized pieces which feel quite light in the hand, they have a strong meaty smell.
